Our V-day

Yesterday we spent most of the day at home. Peyton got a few Valentine's treats including a book, Cars bubbles bath, Mater/Lightening McQueen hot wheels, Playdoh, and the Happy Feet movie. He had fun opening his treats. He's our little Valentine! <3
As far as B and I, we had a mellow V-day compared to normal, which was nice. We got a heart-shaped Papa Murphy's pizza to eat as a family, and then B and I went to see the movie He's Just Not That Into You. It was a good V-day flick. Overall, we had a great 2009 Valentines's day!

Tootsie the bully

This happens everyday. Pancho finds a good spot to nap, was sleeping quietly and peacefully on their bed, under a blanket. Tootsie gets jealous and wants to steal his spot. She's too scared to try and snuggle up next to him, thinking he'll snap at her. So she growls/bullies him into giving up the spot. And he proceeds to climb in and snuggle next to her after she steals the spot. It's such a love/hate relationship between the two.

My child's obsession

Peyton is obsessed with vacuuming. He can hear the closet (where the vacuum resides) open from any room in the house and will race to it if he hears us open it. Every time I vacuum, he has to roll it around for a while after I'm done and then I have to coax him into rolling it back into the closet. Then he gets his vacuum to play with. It's a great bribing tool, I hate to admit it. For instance, today I told him once he goes potty on the potty chair, we will vacuum. :)

Owie!

A few days ago, Peyton fell and hit his face on the rocking chair while chasing our crazy dog Tootsie. His eye is healing well and he isn't even phased by it. It probably hurts me more than him!!

5 Random thoughts/wishes/goals

While sitting here at work, during an uneventful Saturday-day shift, I have the rare time to sit and let my brain rest, ponder, worry, think, etc more than usual. With my compulsion of writing lists, here I go...

1. Will I ever find a job working from home? If I do, the following thoughts run through my mind: I will most likely take a pay cut. It would be so nice to see my husband on a regular basis and be able to have dinner together more than 2 days a week. How productive will I realistically be with a toddler in the house? Will I want to run screaming out of the house wanting new scenery and adult conversation? Will I still want to work from home when Peyton (and any other child I decide to rear) is/are in school?

2. If I made a trip to The Container Store, would it help me get a better grip on being more organized?

3. I love reading other people's blogs. It feels a little stalker-ish sometimes though. A lot of my friends from college have blogs, who follow other people's blogs-some of whom I would consider acquaintences from college. I admit I peek at their blogs every so often too, and wonder if they do the same to mine? Would they be upset that I am stalking their blog? A couple of the blogs I follow are written by people that I've never met. I keep up with them because they either have an awesome story to tell, or are just fantastic and/or hilarious writers. I have to admit, I get slightly excited when I log on to blogspot to see if my friends or the strangers have posted anything new.

4. I really want to learn/master the art of coupon clipping. I was in Target a while back and this lady in front of me in the check-out line had a bill of 40 something dollars until.....she whipped out a stack of coupons and handed them to the red-shirted cashier. She kept scanning and scanning until the freaking bill dwindled down to $1 dollar and something cents. Are you kidding me? I mean really, how do you do that? I was so impressed.

5. I've realized how lucky I am to have a healthy child. I work at Emanuel Hospital, and it is truly unbelievable how many sick children there are. I don't know how the parents deal. It makes me so thankful that God has blessed me with a healthy kid.

A blog everyone should see.

I was thumbing through my co-worker's People magazine yesterday and came across an article about a man that's been keeping a blog about his experience losing his wife on the same day his baby daughter was born. It's a heartbreaking story, and how he carried on after this tragedy is amazing. Check out his blog here. I've started reading from the beginning and am only into April 2008, but so far it is inspiring to read.

January Birthdays

Since our family is so huge, we usually celebrate birthdays monthly. Last night I had my family over to my house for my mom's birthday and my brother Hugh's birthday. I cooked a couple lasagnas and everyone else pitched in with the rest of the fixins'. It's always a lot of fun getting the Prazeau fam together--tons of laughs and very loud! Peyton was acting shy when everyone started showing up, but by the end of the night he was running all over the place, playing with everyone. Happy Birthday Mama and Hughy!!

Looking forward to spring!

It has been dry and not as cold this week, so we've had some time to let Peyton play outside. I've forgotten how much he loves to be outside. We have to drag him in, as he would stay out there all day if we let him. The last couple days we've been outside when B got home from work and as soon as he pulls up he runs to the car, wanting to drive with daddy. He sits on his lap, B puts his favorite song on the stereo, and he puts my sunglasses on while he "drives."

Balls and Beanbags!!

Today I took Peyton to a balls and beanbags class at Montavilla Park. Peyton always has a blast at these classes and is happy to get out of the house during the winter! Amy and Kate brought their boys Hunter and Ethan also. It's always fun to watch a teacher try to assemble some order to these toddler classes. Yeah, it just doesn't happen. Peyton loved to be able to just run around and attempt to play basketball. I'm sensing (or maybe it's just hoping) he's following his mama's footsteps and is going to be a hooper!! ;)

Hunter and Ethan

New parenting technique?

Well it is for me anyway. It has been a complete struggle since Peyton's first tooth emerged to get him to cooperate with teeth brushing. I have tried EVERYTHING. Electric toothbrush, letting him brush my teeth while I do his--you name it, I tried it. I even asked my dentist what to do. He said, "well you can't not brush his teeth, so you may have to just pin him down and get the job done." I HATE doing that, and dread teeth brushing time just as much as Peyton does. I don't even know how I even thought of this, it is so completely random, and would never have thought that this would work, but if I sing "Happy Birthday" to him, he just lays there, with his mouth open, and watches me sing it while I brush his teeth (for a two whole rounds!). I've tried singing the A, B, C's and every other one of his favorite songs and it never worked. What drove me to randomly pick "Happy Birthday," is beyond me. But hey I'll take anything that works... :) And we'll see how long this bliss lasts.

Pizza/Wii night

Last night our friends the Hadley's had us over for homemade pizza and Wii. Ethan and Peyton had a busy & fun time playing together all night. B and I really liked playing the Wii, and just might have to get one! It was a fun night of food, friends, and fun!

A GREAT read

I just finished a book called The Shack by William P. Young. This book really, truly touched me and gave me so much insight on the mysteries of God. The event that this book surrounds is completely heartbreaking, and was difficult for me to read in the beginning. This author is so creative and the story is so vivid and colorful. What was even more home-hitting was the fact that the story takes place in Oregon.
This was a great read and I encourage everyone to read it!

Happy New Year...

I was trying to get Peyton to say "Happy New Year," and before I had the camera handy, he was saying something along the lines of "hippo new year." I tried to get him to say it again but he was more interested in eating his corn for lunch today. He REALLY likes corn...lol.
