2009 Resolution(s)

"A New Year's Resolution is a commitment that an individual makes to a project or the reforming of a habit, often a lifestyle change that is generally interpreted as advantageous." -Wikipedia

When thinking about what my 2009 New Years resolution would be, I wanted it to be something that not only concerned me, but also my family. My life is a constant state of busy-ness. I have come to realize that I need to slow down and enjoy the present. I'm either dwelling on the past or worrying about the future. I honestly can't believe I'm 28 years old. I don't know what happened to my 25, 26, or my 27th year. (Well I do know. I had a child and you know what they say about time flying once you have kids.) A vague, overall resolution for me that I am going to try to keep in the back of my mind is to slow down, relax, and enjoy what's happening presently in my life. So onto my specific resolutions. The first one is the main one and the one that I'm hoping to stay completely committed to.

1. Go to church every Sunday I am not at work. I have really lame excuses for not going to church--I'm exhausted from working until midnight the night before, I have too much to do around the house, etc. I need to make this a habit and a time for me to set time aside for God. This is also important to me in regards to Peyton. I want him to have a foundation of Christianity that will reflect in him and in his walk of life. I also think this will help me to slow down, quit worrying about EVERYTHING, and put trust into God that he will protect and provide everything my family needs.

2. Get back into shape! Ugh, this has been a huge burr in my side ever since I became a mom. Not because I gained a ton of weight during my pregnancy or that I'm overweight, but I need some toning up big time. I have literally no time to get an honest-to-goodness hard work out in. This is so hard for me after being an athlete my whole life and not knowing anything but being in good enough shape to sprint up and down the basketball court for 40 minutes no sweat. I will try my best to get workouts in at home and get to the gym on my days off; however, this will still be a hard one to keep up with my schedule.

3. Organization/getting the house the way we want it. This is another one that's always on my to-do-list. I try hard, but need to try harder. I think my issue is trying to do everything at once. I might just make a monthly list of small tasks I would like to accomplish around the house.

So that's it. Nothing impossible, all attainable. Here's to a great 2009!

Happy New Years everyone!

Christmas at the Springer's

This past weekend we went over to B's parent's house a couple nights to finish a Christmas celebration with them. We had a great time with good food and family. Here are a few pictures!

He definitely got the present opening down like a pro. He would take the bow off, throw it on the floor, unwrap the present with a fury, then pick up all the paper and throw it in the garbage. Then he would look for the next present.

Grammy and Papa Springer got Peyton this tractor. He was a little hesitant at first and a little afraid...

Just kinda checkin' it out...

He would finally touch it with Daddy there with him...

This was the end of it...we had to peel him off the tractor to get him to go to bed that night...

He LOVES it. Great Grandma Barb showing him how it all works...

He got an Oregon Ducks punching bag thingy from Uncle Aaron...

Aunt Marcia or "Sha Sha" as Peyton calls her (on the right) made him a special pillow for his bed...

Getting tired...

Roxy girl... We got her shortly after we got Pancho but didn't realize how big she would get! We couldn't keep her in our apartment anymore back then, so B's parents adopted her from us. She's a great dog...

Christmas with the Prazeau's

Yesterday B had to work until 2, and our original plans were to go over to his parent's for Christmas dinner, etc., but they rescheduled until this weekend because of the snowy weather. After B got home, Peyton finally got to open his gifts. Luckily he's still young enough where had no idea what day it was and didn't mind waiting.

Then we headed over to my parent's house for dinner and gift exchange. There is always a house full of people and it's pretty hectic! Being around a ton of people always gets Peyton all riled up and I was exhausted by the time I got home from chasing him around and steering him clear of all the no-no's. :) We had a blast and he loved all of his gifts.

My sister Bonnie got him a fire-engine scooter that he loved! Austin got a razor scooter too, so they were playing with them together all night!

This morning we set up his little tent that Santa got him from Ikea. He thought it was pretty cool. He put all his new toys plus his blankie in there.

Christmas 2007 to 2008

2007

I was looking at pictures from last Christmas and what a difference!!! He seems so little back then. He was on the verge of walking then. It's just amazing how much he has grown in just a year.

Unbelieveable snow!

This week has been so crazy! When the weather guy said that we would be getting snow (ARCTIC BLAST 2008), I figured it would be the typical Portland snow that came and went in the same day. This is just CRAZY! But I absolutely love it. Thanks to my in-laws I've been able to make it into work everyday (though I secretly wished I was stranded at home). ;) Since B needed the Tahoe with 4-wheel-drive to get up the hill at OHSU, they have been dropping me off/picking me up at work, and watching Peyt for us. They have no idea how thankful we are for them!
I don't think I've ever experienced this much snow, and had it stay for so long. A lot of people are sick of it, but I wish it would stay like this all winter! When I think of winter and the Christmas season, THIS is what it should be like weather-wise. I have to say, however, I am not done Christmas shopping and have a feeling I will be doing some belated Christmas giving. It's all worth it to me though.
Here are some pictures I've taken throughout the week. The whiteness is truly beautiful and there are no words to describe the peaceful silentness of a snowy night. A creation of God for sure!
Merry Christmas everyone!

My poor little Jetta!

Our backyard view is beautiful!

Snow!!

It's been snowing all day and I love it! Peyton loves it, and keeps yelling "Know! Know! (snow) White! White!" He played outside until his fingers were numb (he will not let me put gloves on him) and I had to drag him inside. I'm so sad I have to leave for work in a little bit, hopefully I won't get snowed in there--talk about the worst place to be stuck at. :P

He loves the cheesy Santa on the tractor:

Zoo Lights

Last night we took Peyton to the Zoo lights. He was fascinated with the train and loved the ride! The lights were amazing.
