3 months

Olivia is 12 weeks old today!  It's flown by, but then again, it seems like it's been forever ago that I was pregnant.  I've been back to work for a couple of weeks now, and we are getting into a new routine.  The first few days were ROUGH.  She was still up every 3 hours, so with me getting off at midnight, I got about 4-5 hours of broken up sleep.  I felt like a zombie!  I've since decided to drop a day a week at work which will be great.  I found myself praying so hard that we could figure out her formula deal and that she would start miraculously sleeping better, otherwise I really felt like I would turn into a crazy person.  But, we apparently found the golden formula ticket!  A couple weekends ago we tried Good Start Soy formula, she was still spitting up a ton, but eating a bit better.  After that was gone, on the morning of April 20, I tried Similac Soy...she slept from 9pm-630am that night!!!  I thought for sure it was just a fluke, and didn't get my hopes up at all, but she's been sleeping through the night ever since. Its's such a relief to have a happy, fully-fed, rested baby (and mommy/daddy).
She's really mastered thumb sucking in the past couple of weeks, so I think that's also a factor in her improved night sleep.  She's able to soothe herself back to sleep if she wakes up during the night.

Eating:  Now that we've figured out which formula works for her, she eats a lot better.  She's eating 4-5 oz per feeding, and not taking so long to finish her bottle.  She still spits up, but nothing like before.  She eats about every 3-5 hours during the day.

Sleeping: She takes 3 naps a day.  Her first two naps are usually 2 hours long, unless I'm having to wake her up to leave the house.  Her late afternoon/evening nap is about an hour long.  She usually goes to bed  around 9pm every night and sleeps 9-12 hours straight.  I'm crossing my fingers that this is her new 'norm!'

Awake time: Olivia is usually up for a couple of hours at a time during the day.  After she eats she is a happy, happy girl and gives us tons of smiles and coos.  She really started cooing right around 2 months.  She likes to sit in her bouncy seat, under her baby gym, and after her tummy is settled a bit she has some tummy time.  She definitely loves to have someone talking to her or to be near all the action.  She's starting to reach out for her toys, hold on to them for a while, or bring them to her mouth, and bats at the hanging toy in her baby gym.  Peyton loves that she's becoming more interactive.

Speaking of Peyton...he really is such a huge help when it comes to his sister.  B and I are on our own with both kids during the week, so having Peyton so ready and willing to help is awesome.  On Peyton's school days, the mornings are kind of hectic, especially when I work until midnight the night before.  If we wake up too late, I often times have to have him fix himself his own breakfast (he's got toast, cereal or oatmeal down), get dressed, and brush his teeth all on his own (with my supervision) as I feed Olivia. He (most of the time) loves to be this independent.  He's such a great big brother.

I love her little rolls.

Easter

On Saturday morning we headed to the Fairview Easter egg hunt.  It was SO crowded!  Peyton only got 4 eggs, it was crazy.  There were more parents in there than kids.  He was happy with what he got though, I was sad I didn't get any good pictures.  :(
Waiting for the hunt to start.

The loot

Madness.  This was the only picture that I managed to get.

Saturday night we dyed some Easter eggs with Peyt

Peyton set out a carrot and some jelly beans for the Easter Bunny

Checking to see if he ate any of the treats, and he did! Plus he got a letter from the Easter Bunny.

He found his basket and Olivia's.  He was glad the Easter Bunny didn't come into his room.  He was pretty freaked out before bed the night before and told me to make sure that the Easter Bunny didn't come in his room.  I guess a big bunny lurking around in my room is kind of creepy. ;)

All dressed and ready to go to Easter mass.

Happy girl
Then after B got off work, Grammy/Papa Springer stopped by to give Peyt his Easter basket, plus a very special car vacuum.  The kid has a collection of vacuums going on now.  Silly.
Then we headed to my sister's house for Easter dinner.  We also watched old home videos that my dad brought over.  It was so hilarious to watch and so nice to see my Mom.

Grandpa Prazeau & Olivia

Like father like son..

This spring Peyton has started mowing the lawn with B.  It takes B about an hour to mow/edge the front and back yard and Peyton takes his little mower and mows right along next to him...for the entire hour.  He takes it very seriously.  He now has 'lawn-mowing-shoes' like Daddy that he keeps in the garage.  So cute...it's so fun to watch him try to be like his Daddy.

Fireman Peyt

Since I've gone back to work, I've fallen way behind on blogging!  Here's some pictures I took on my phone from a couple weekends ago.  Peyton's school had an open house and there was lots of fun stuff to see and do.  He got to hold a crab, touch an octopus, a fish and a lobster, do different crafts, and the Gresham Fire department stopped by too!  Peyton was in 7th heaven...and asked the firemen about a million questions about the truck. :)

This is the game we're playing at 10 weeks old...

THE FORMULA GAME!

This is not fun.  We started Olivia on Kirkland brand formula and she was doing fine on it for about a month until she all of the sudden was eating half of what she normally would, she was super gassy/squirmy, up every 2-3 hours during the night because she's hungry, and spitting up like crazy.  We've since switched her through a few brands and still have yet to find the right match.  I'm on day 2 of Good Start (which was the formula that first worked for Peyton), but so far no such luck.  Lots of spit up and she isn't eating a full 4 oz.  I called the nurse at her doctor's office and she suggested trying soy next.  So this weekend if there is still no improvement, soy it is.  Wish us luck with this not-so-fun and EXPENSIVE game!

Visit from Jill

Yesterday Jill and Zoie made a trip up from Salem to visit us.  With our busy schedules with work and kids, and living over an hour away from each other, it's hard for us to get together as much as we would like.  But I'm so glad she's in Oregon and we can see each other every couple of months!  Zoie has gotten so big since I saw her last.  Peyton had fun playing with her and showing her his toys. Jill and I often fantasize about one day being neighbors so we can be together and raise our kids next door to each other! Oh how I wish!

Happy Birthday Hunter!

On Monday we celebrated Hunter's 4th birthday at Pietro's Pizza!  I really can't believe our boys are growing up as fast as they are.  I'm so thankful for Kate and Amy's friendship and it's so fun that our boys are just months apart in age!  Happy Birthday Hunter!

Peyton picked out a bug vacuum (of course) for Hunter's b-day gift.

Crazy

Last year for my birthday my mom gave me a plant and a gift card to Portland Nursery.  On May 22, she went with me to Portland Nursery to use the gift card.  It was my last shopping trip I had with her.  I remember after she was done with her shopping she asked to go back to the car because she was exhausted and weak.  I didn't spend all of the gift card so I saved the receipt.  I was cleaning out my wallet the other day and found the receipt.  I was floored when I saw the quote that was on there....so appropriate.  CRAZY.

31

On Monday the 11th, I turned 31.  I've had a few celebrations...Last week B's parents had us over for a delicious steak dinner for B's brother Aaron's birthday and my birthday which are just 4 days apart.  On Saturday, B took me out to Salty's for dinner.  I had lobster and B had crab-stuffed salmon--SO delicious!  After dinner they served me a slice of white chocolate cake that I shared with B along with a couple shots of prosecco which was really good.  Then on Sunday my sister had my whole family over to her house for dinner and cake.  It meant a lot to me since usually my mom would get everyone together my birthday.  I know she is there in spirit when we all get together...we need to do it way more often.  It feels so good to be with my family.
