Peyton at 2 1/2

Some tidbits on Peyton at this age....

  • Talking more and more. He pronounces most words pretty clear and is putting several sentences together. My favorite phrases: "I love you mama." (Of course!) "Daddy's home!"

  • Loves anything that moves-trucks, construction equipment, trains, cars, bikes...you name it. And don't dare call get your construction equipment incorrect. He'll be quick to let you know that thing you just called a tractor is a backhoe, or an excavator, or a roller, or a front loader, etc. He can name the make of all of his hot wheels too. The kid is going to be a car enthusiast, I can already tell. He is ALL boy.

  • Potty training- he has finally mastered #1. He will stay completely dry the entire day if we are conscientious of it. #2 on the other hand, he refuses. We're working on it. We use a Tigger and Pooh sticker chart and raisinettes as incentive. :)

  • Favorite foods at the moment: PBJ has always been his #1, any fruit-specifically berries lately, Nutri-grain bars, "A-diya" (Quesadilla), yogurt, juice, Pirate's Booty, tomatoes, and of course any form of a cookie.

  • He is still a thumb-sucker. He has been ever since he was about 3 months old. He only does it when he's tired or bored. The doctor insists not to worry about it until they are 4 years old. I did the same thing when I was a child-only I didn't stop until I was about 6. Hopefully he won't have to be a brace-face like his mommy.

  • He has grown so much in the last 6 months. He is wearing 4T pants and clothes. At the park he is taller than some 4 year olds. Speaking of the park-he lives for the park.

  • He is definitely an independent child. He knows what he wants and is stubborn as ever. He likes to do the opposite of whatever you tell him to do. :) #1 time-out reason: dropping food on the floor when he doesn't want it (knowing the dogs will eat it).

  • Every night lately we have to read The Little Engine That Could. And don't even try to skip a page-he'll know. He knows parts of the book by heart. And I could probably rehearse it completely.

  • He's very routined. At night this is the order things are done, and he doesn't like any sort of wavering in the routine. Bath, PJ's on, a little milk while we read, teeth brushing, hug, kiss, high five, and knuckle bump (in that order only!), prayers, another kiss, he tells you to close the door and blows a kiss.

  • Loves Playdoh. If I need to cook dinner, or do anything for that matter that take more than 30 minutes, I bust out the Playdoh. He'll play with it for long periods of time.

I could go on and on....I can't believe how big my baby is getting. Feels like I was just pregnant with him. They are right when they say that time flies once you have kids.

Oh and a couple new words he's been saying lately: "Brudder" and "sister." HA-someday. :)
